Southdown Trail + Yoga UPDATE!

UPDATES ON SATURDAY IF YOU HAVEN'T REGISTERED!

Please take the time to register in advance so I know who is coming, especially with these changes. Thank you!

The Southdown Trail is the place to be!

It turns out we aren't the only ones with big plans Saturday - a couple of other groups will be out there too.

So it’s now officially "Trail Day" in Houma! 😀

It’s beautiful to see so many people wanting to get outside and get grounded, and I’m certain it’s going to be a great morning.

Passing along a few details to make things flow smoothly:

Parking: Parking is the lot off of Valhi Blvd. DIRECTIONS

Please be considerate when parking. Parking shouldn’t be an issue, but please plan to arrive at least 20 minutes early and take up only the space that you need. Yoga mindset applies to parking lots too :-)

Here is the flow for our session:

  • The Hike: We will spend about one hour hiking a loop hike (meaning we will end up the same place we start 😉)

  • The Yoga: we will return to the parking area, collect our mats, walk to the yoga area where we'll have an about a one-hour yoga session.

  • Weather: Rain, what rain? There is a (small) chance for rain. I plan to show up and let it flow, but please be mindful of the forecast and prepare accordingly. (...and please no umbrellas)

  • Strollers: I would like to keep these events reserved for outdoor yogis 10 and up. Where I love little yogis, I would like to protect the intent of the event to connect to yourself and nature!

A quick logistical note:

Because of all the action, I’ve chosen a different practice area than I originally planned.

To get to our designated yoga spot after our hike, we’ll be walking a short distance with our mats. It isn’t far, but to keep your hands free and your mind focused, I recommend:

• Using a yoga mat strap or carrier or,

• Bringing a small backpack for your water and essentials.

• Wear comfortable shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty

Please note there are no restroom facilities at the trail head

DONATION BASED -donations accepted online day of the event as well as cash or Venmo

Let’s bring that good energy, stay mindful of our neighbors on the path, and enjoy the community vibes!

Can’t wait to see you all at the trailhead!

Keep Seeking Up AND Outdoors!
